Today, Brizan Publishing (BPUB) officially published its first print publication, Costing for Fashion: A Guide for Startups and Small Businesses.
An imprint of Jessel Bizan Design Group Ltd. (JBDG), BPUB is the company’s publishing division created to provide digital and print media content including but not limited to art, business, culture, design, education, entertainment, fashion, food, and self-help and empowerment.
Much like BPUB, Costing for Fashion represents the first official publication for JBDG Founder Jessel Brizan who can now add the title of author to his résumé.
“The coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic provided the catalyst for me to explore other career goals that I previously placed on the back burner,” he opened. “As a novice in the publishing field, It proved to be a tedious undertaking which commenced in March at the outset of the pandemic. But four months later I was the proud father of a new born publication.”
“In the spirit of creativity, collaboration and community, it was developed as a support tool to help fashion professionals navigate and mitigate the challenges facing their businesses.”
Costing for Fashion was created in its entirety by Brizan who brings over fifteen years experience as a founder, educator and fashion professional. Literally a one-man army, he oversaw the cover design, layout, copy-writing, copy-editing, proofreading, and print preparation and packaging.
Brizan—who possesses a bachelor’s degree in Communication from American International College (AIC) in Springfield, Massachusetts—drew heavily on his background in journalism which he acquired from serving an internship with the Springfield Union News / Sunday Republican, and his time spent as a writer and editor-in-chief of The Yellow Jacket, AIC’s student-run newspaper.
According to Brizan, the purpose of Costing for Fashion is to help fashion professionals by providing a simple yet comprehensive approach to the efficient and effective costing, pricing and profitability of their product(s), and ultimately, success of their businesses. In the spirit of creativity, collaboration and community, it was developed as a support tool to help fashion professionals navigate and mitigate the challenges facing their businesses.
He added, Costing for Fashion is an educational reference manual geared towards new or aspiring designers, startups, small businesses, and educators, and provides an overview of market considerations, customer focus, and examines the factors that influence the costing, pricing and profitability of a product and/or service. It was created in keeping with standard accounting principles to equip and acclimate users with the terminology, methodology and procedures requisite for the global fashion industry.
“We are hopeful that fashion stakeholders locally, regionally and globally will find our publications and their content beneficial to the growth, development and success of their businesses. Ultimately, our goal is to effectively contribute to the sustainable growth and development of Caribbean fashion, and the world at large,” Brizan concluded.
Costing for Fashion is currently available in paperback via the company’s website (www.brizanpublishing.com) and on multiple online platforms. Click here to order Costing for Fashion now.
