AUX Creativ (AUX) has revealed illustrations of its proposed concept for Breezes Restaurant and Cabana Bar to be located in Black Rock, Tobago.

Sorry, not that Breezes.

Having previously created the logo design, AUX was approached to conceptualise the design, floor plan and aesthetics for the startup restaurant and bar.

Sexy, sophisticated and sustainable are key words that inspire the concept.

Complementary to its unique local and Caribbean culinary fare, the seaside restaurant and bar was designed to offer patrons a modern, luxurious, immersive experience encompassing entertainment and escapism. AUX conceived a two-level, open-plan concept to exploit every facet of the picturesque seascapes overlooking Stonehaven Bay on the island’s northwest coast.

Reclaimed wood and environmentally-friendly materials will direct the approach to sustainability in keeping with the philosophy of the brand.

A two-fold colour palette was forecasted to create a harmonious relationship between the brand identity, the concept, and the environment.

The first colour palette was directed by the colours of the logo to reflect the diversity of the flora, fauna, food, culture, and people. The mix of warm and cool colour stories evoke an atmosphere of fun and festivity, and lend inspiration to the furnishings and decorative accents throughout the space.

Neutrals, including white, greys and browns, dominate the second colour palette and directs the structure, furniture, and fixtures and fittings. Inspired by the surrounding environment, the colour story blends seamlessly with the landscape synonymous with Stonehaven Bay.

An assortment of coastal-safe plants and palm trees add the perfect balance of lush greenery to harmonize the space, and immerse patrons in the tropical island escape.

Immediately upon approach patrons are greeted by an island paradise. An exterior ivy-covered living wall sets the tone for the tropical wonderland highlighted by a centrally-located, three-dimensional lit sign of the name and logo.

Palm trees flank the wood-framed entrance with a neon Breezes sign overhead. Plant-covered walls create a tropical tunnel that leads to the beach and seaside lounge.

Two short flights of stairs flanking the seaside lounge opens up to the lower level which houses the primary bar and kitchen flanked by the restrooms and office/storage facility at the north and south respectively.

A back-lit, glass-clad beverage wall presents the focal point of the bar imbued with colour-changing LED lights which add to the ambience. The bar is flanked by reclaimed wood wine racks and organic herb garden walls strategic to the food and beverage ingredients.

Patrons will be able to sit at the bar, and enjoy the sommeliers and chefs concoct drink and culinary delights, or be seated facing the bay and take advantage of the ocean vista.

A glass-clad railing serves to create separation between the immediate bar area and the seaside lounge. The lounge (and beach) is accessible by the two flights of stairs on either side of the bar, and offers visitors a fashionable, socially-savvy space.

The north wall of the bar features a store area where patrons can shop branded merchandise including tees, beach wraps, beach towels, hats, keychains, shot glasses, and other keepsakes of their Breezes experience.

Pendant lighting permeates the inner wood beams of the roof which extend beyond the seaside facade.

The entire lower level is secured by wood bi-fold doors during the hours of closure with accent lighting on the front exterior vertical beams.

A game/entertainment area will offer visitors the opportunity to engage their inner child through a game of beach table tennis, billiards or cornhole.

Large palm tree planters double as seating for patrons who desire to “lime” on the sand while beach cabanas provide a measure of privacy for those seeking a more intimate experience.

On the south end of the bar, two flights of stairs lead to the open-air upper level/roof top which is wrapped in a glass railing allowing for 360 degree vistas. A multi-purpose area, the space can be configured to accommodate dining and events.

A roof top bar/service area with seating offers an additional space for signature cocktails and drinks, and food service. The bar area and stairway are enclosed by a roof and wood bi-fold doors allowing for security during hours of closure. Outdoor lighting accents the exterior vertical beams.

A game/entertainment area features outdoor billiards and cornhole for the playful at heart. A chaise lounge and day bed lounge will occupy the west and east borders respectively, and transforms to dining areas depending on the time of day or event.

The north border features a community lounge which can be configured in multiple seating arrangements. Round lounge chairs and tables at the south and south-west borders allow for a more private and intimate couples experience. Removable shade sails in the lounge areas provide respite from the heat during the daylight hours.

The upper level is unified by a tropical lounge located in the centre, and features large palm tree planters which double as seating.
