An apology to the children of Trinidad and Tobago

PREAMBLE
Anyone who knows me, undoubtedly knows my disdain for local politics and political parties. Much like child abuse, I possess zero tolerance for the childish musings of local politicians. I do not advocate for any political party, but I do exercise my right to vote. And by default, the People’s National Movement (PNM) usually secures my ballot because I will never vote for divisive racists.
Non-existent is my penchant for the likes of the ‘leader’ of the Opposition Kamla Persad-Bissessar (aka the local Donald Trump) and her minions who comprise the United National Congress (UNC) and its anal parasites. Much like Donald Trump and George W. Bush, I have never listened to her speech because the discordant noise of insufferable lies and deceit would be analogous to cruel and unusual punishment.
Yesterday, I somehow mustered the strength to sacrifice my intolerance and impatience, and opted to view the local television channel of the Parliament of Trinidad and Tobago for the tribunal launched against President Paula Mae Weekes. And not surprisingly, my loathing was reaffirmed.
Dear Children of Trinidad and Tobago,
I would like to expressly convey my sincerest apologies for the disgraceful demonstration of demagoguery displayed yesterday by the undistinguished members of the Opposition in The National Circus of Trinidad and Tobago. Sorry, not sorry, The Parliament of Trinidad and Tobago, rather.
Please be advised that such behaviour is unbecoming of mature, respectable, intelligent adults, and is in no way a reflection of the collective consciousness of the citizenry of our nation. In fact, those individuals are representative of poor excuses for adults, and such behaviour should never be taken as acceptable or worthy of adulation or emulation.
Such individuals are not respectable nor worthy of respect, but that does not mean that we forego self-respect and treat them with disrespect. Such individuals have no dignity, but that does not mean that we indignify ourselves by stooping to their lowly level. And though they wear the title, such individuals are not honourable, but that does not mean that we dishonour ourselves by aligning with their kind.
Former president Anthony Carmona was 100% correct when he was chastised for the phrase “rum shop politics”. And our Parliament, politics and people have so devolved. You see, the lore of the Carnival that is Trinidad and Tobago comprises a cadre of colourful characters—blue devils, red imps and yellow imps.
Our country is under siege at the hands of despots who have brought the highest office into disrepute, and hell-bent on the division, disruption and destruction of a democracy already in decay.
Please understand that a leader is the epitome of one who serves. And the leaders of a country are responsible for serving the needs of all the people. That said, it is a distinct difference between leaders and persons in positions of leadership. And these individuals bear no likeness to leaders or what constitutes leadership.
Ideally, the government of a country is best served by leaders who are career politicians. If one were to peruse the curriculum vitae of such an individual it should display a distinguished background of academic achievement and applied learning in political science, as much as a history of service to people, community and country. Unfortunately, the government of Trinidad and Tobago is polluted and plagued by unqualified doctors, lawyers, businesspersons, and self-appointed pundits masquerading as politicians.
Trinidad and Tobago, how can you, as a people, expect progress if you recycle the same political prostitutes who purpose to procure power and profit by prohibiting positive change?
The government of a country is as intelligent as the ignorance of the people who elected it. And in the absence of true leadership and collective consciousness, the social construct of a country is highly conducive to a climate where the blind follows the blind.
Such is the reality of present-day Trinidad and Tobago—a modern-day Sodom and Gomorrah clearly characterized as a commonwealth cesspool of crime, corruption, cronyism, cowards, conformists, white-collar criminals, cliques, and common clowns who are culturally clueless, and lack any capacity for cognition and consciousness.
As difficult as it is to perceive, such individuals do serve a purpose–they teach the rest of us how not to be. It is a universal law–there is opposition in all things. And such is the fate of the Opposition—to merely oppose even when what is being opposed serves for the betterment of the society and the country as a whole.
But all is not lost. “Those who fail to learn from history are condemned to repeat it.” (Winston Churchill) It is critical that you look and learn the lessons in the losses accrued by your forebears.
I give you responsibility.
You represent the future of our nation. As unfair and daunting a task, it is your responsibility and civic duty, as the architects of progress and positive change, to rebuild anew, and repair the damage, destruction and division imposed by its progenitors.
God is not a ‘Trini’. Thank God. And Trinidad and Tobago is not a paradise save for its waters, flora, fauna, and terra firma. And any resident who says differently is part of the problems.
(Whenever and wherever I reference God, I am referring to the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. And He is not Jewish, Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, nor bears any semblance to any man-made religion.)
But more than ever we are in dire need of God’s grace. I wish you all God’s richest blessings and His divine wisdom of discernment between good and evil.
Peace and blessings.
Respectfully,
Jessel Brizan
